Bonnie Korr

Cloth Doll and Fiber Artist

Bonnie Korr, a fiber artist and Jewish educator, has been an avid seamstress since childhood. She dressed all her dolls in the latest hand-made fashions, and later made her own clothes as well. For many years, she also designed and sewed folk dance costumes, combining her love of sewing with Israeli folk dancing. From there, she began to create elaborately costumed cloth dolls and animals.

Bonnie’s one-of-a-kind cloth figures are masterfully costumed and coiffed. She devotes the greatest attention to the smallest detail. On custom orders, Bonnie works diligently to capture the essence of a person’s special interests or characteristics, and welcomes the opportunity to create just the right figure, perfectly adorned, to commemorate a special occasion.

A knitting enthusiast, Bonnie also works with the intricacies of turning unspun wool fiber, along with silk and other fibers, into delightful artistic felted creations. Her Judaica line includes felted and beaded pomegranates and kippot. Her line of felted hats is funky and fanciful. She has led workshops for children and adults in schools, synagogues and community arts organizations. Participants of all ages enjoy turning wool fibers into decorative butterflies, vessels, necklaces and hats.

Bonnie has won first-prize ribbons for her cloth dolls at the Barnstable County Fair and “best in show” at the annual Woods Hole Art Show, both in Massachusetts. In addition to ArtSites, she is also a member of the Potomac Fiber Guild and the G Street Doll Club for cloth doll makers. Still an avid folk dancer, Bonnie works out of her home studio in College Park, Maryland.
