Angie Hersh
Handpainted Gifts
S.R.B.* Designs by Angie came into being in the 1980's when I discovered that other people enjoyed having items that I had painted on. Over the years it has taken on many different "flavors" Today, my art is a reflection of my commitment to living "greener" and trying to make creative use of materials that have already been discarded by previous owners.
I believe that ordinary, everyday items can be elevated to artistic statements while retaining their original, practical utility. I draw and paint on recycled wooden items as well as more mainstream paper and canvas. I also try to use media in different ways to reflect patterns and textures. I enjoy using unexpected color combinations, and I often mix geometric designs with realistic drawings of objects from nature. Much of my work incorporates symbols from Judaic tradition and Native American cultures, as well as my own geometric, mandala interpretations of human feelings and qualities.
My greatest blessing has been to know that others take pleasure in owning my work. I am honored and humbled by their validation of my work as an art form.
