My art and creative designing began as a child growing up in New York City. Living within walking distance of the N.Y. museums, my art classes began at the age of five and continued through the well known “High School of Music and Art”, with free time at the Art Student’s League. That was just the beginning of a lifetime art, studying and experiencing.
Today, I continue my artwork using oils, acrylics, pastels, fused glass and fiber. Often, I combine these mediums to create multi-media pieces both functional and decorative. I love to travel and am inspired by the local art, which I incorporate into my teaching and artwork. It was a trip to Murano, Italy that began my love of working in glass.
I am an active member of ArtSites, the guild for Judaic arts and my work has been displayed in galleries, shows, my studio and at my new shop, A Taste for Art, located in the JCC in Rockville. I was the artist commissioned to create the fused glass mezuzot for the dedication of Har Shalom’s new sanctuary. I have been a featured artist for Montgomery Hospice, a cover artist for the JCC book Festival and the fused glass artist / teacher for Washington Hebrew Congregation’s 150th anniversary.
I teach art to children and adults in the JCC art department, fused glass at VisArts in Rockville, classes at my studio in Potomac, and unique workshops and special events held in many different locations.
I hope you enjoy my one of a kind art creations that are signed Fein-Cate.
